Making Perceptions More Accurate

General Strategies
-Passive strategies
(You just observe what people do)

-Active strategies
(You gain information from others)

-Interactive strategies
(You talk to the person you are focusing on)

2.Specific strategies
-Look for a variety of cues
Example: If you want to know whether a person is gossip types, you will try to create conversation with him/her which is related to gossip and looking for feedback from that person.

-Formulate hypothesis (like doing an experiment)
For example: If a person is a helpful person, he or she will help you whenever you meet any difficulties.

-Delay conclusion (not to conclude your perception quickly, try to gain evidence to prove it)
For example: If a person is willing to help you once or two, it doesn't mean that person is a helpful person.
You have to delay your conclusion by taking time to find out the evidence to support your words.

-Avoid mind reading
For example: If a person do not give you birthday wishes to you, it does not mean the person dislikes you.
